Frequently asked questions

Answers to the questions people ask us most about donating, our work and how to get involved.

Donations and payments

How do I donate?

Open the Donate page, choose an amount and how often you want to give, add your details and choose how to pay: eSewa, Khalti, connectIPS (straight from your bank account), or a bank transfer from your mobile banking to our Nepal Bank account. It takes about a minute.

Go to the Donate page
Which ways can I pay?

In Nepal: eSewa, Khalti, connectIPS, a QR code, mobile banking, or a deposit at any bank branch into our Nepal Bank Limited account. From India: a UPI app (when our Fonepay QR is shown) or a remittance company such as IME or Prabhu. From other countries: a money transfer app that pays into Nepali bank accounts (Wise, Remitly, Western Union, Xoom and others), or an international bank transfer (SWIFT). Choose bank transfer on the Donate page to see every option.

Is paying online safe?

Yes. You pay on eSewa's, Khalti's or connectIPS's own secure page, or in your bank's app. Nepal Memorial Trust never sees your PIN, password or card number, and checks every payment with the provider before sending a receipt.

Which currencies can I give in?

Payments inside Nepal are in Nepali rupees (NPR). From abroad you can give in your own currency: a money transfer app or an international bank transfer converts it to rupees on the way. PayPal does not work with Nepali bank accounts.

Is my donation taken again later?

No. Every donation is a single, one-time payment. Nothing is charged again. If you would like to give again, simply make a new donation whenever you wish.

Read the donation terms
Will I get a receipt?

Yes. After a successful payment you see a thank-you page with your reference number and a “Download receipt” button, and a receipt is sent to your email.

Can I donate without my name being shown?

Yes. Tick “Donate anonymously” on the donation form. Your gift is still listed on our donors page, but your name is shown as “Anonymous”.

Can I choose where my money goes?

Yes. On the donation form you can choose one of our programmes, such as education or health, or leave it for where it is needed most.

Can I get a refund?

If you donated the wrong amount or were charged twice, tell us within 30 days and we will refund the mistaken amount to the card or account you paid from.

Trust and transparency

How do I know my donation is used well?

Every donation is listed openly on our donors page. Our registration, Social Welfare Council affiliation, annual reports and audit reports are on the documents page for anyone to check.

Is Nepal Memorial Trust a registered organisation?

Yes. We were registered in 2065 B.S. (2008) at the District Administration Office, Rautahat (Reg. No. 1274). We are affiliated with the Social Welfare Council (No. 25821) and our PAN is 303155403.

Can I donate from outside Nepal?

Yes. The easiest way is usually a money transfer app that pays into Nepali bank accounts, such as Wise, Remitly, Western Union or Xoom: choose bank deposit to our account at Nepal Bank Limited, Gaur branch. You can also send an international bank transfer (SWIFT code NEBLNPKA). Write the reference the Donate page gives you so we can match your gift. Donations from abroad are reported to the Social Welfare Council and our bank as Nepali law requires.
